Yesterday was a big day for the Dire Straits and all Mark Knopfler fans. The famous and one of the best guitarists of all time, as well as musician and songwriter Mark Knopfler – celebrated his 73rd birthday.
Namely, he is born on August 12th, 1949, in Glasgow, United Kingdom in a Jewish-Hungarian family. He is known for his specific guitar playing techniques and also for his mega-huge hits from the 70s and 80s of the last century.
In 1977, together with his brother David, bassist John Illsley and drummer Pick Withers, Mark formed Dire Straits. One of the most popular rock bands of all time.
Through the band’s mega-hits, the band experiences world fame, and Mark Knopfler starts playing and collaborating with all other world musicians such as Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Tina Turner, Chet Atkins, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, and many other musicians.
In 2018, Mark Knopfler’s band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but unfortunately, he and his brother David were not present at the ceremony.

When Dire Straits was disbanded in 1995 Mark Knopfler started his own solo career which is still going on. Thanks to his love for music and care for his fans, Mark is still playing and releasing new albums. He is non-stop in the studio and works daily on all new material that he has a duty to share with his fans in the future.
Last year Mark has released a full vinyl set of his studio solo albums from 1996 to 2007. This year he’ll release the second part of this vinyl set. There would be his studio solo albums from 2009 to 2018.
We hope that in 2023 we’ll get a new solo album from Mark Knopfler. We as a team want to wish him good health, peace, and tranquility in his home and soul.
