Randy Scruggs, Award Winning Songwriter & Producer, Dies at 64

Multi-award winning country music songwriter, producer and guitarist Randy Scruggs died Tuesday (April 17). He was 64.

According to Music Row, Scruggs passed after suffering a brief illness. He began his extensive music career at age 13 and has since won the CMA musician of the year award in 1999, 2003 and 2006, while also accumulating four Grammy’s for his work.

He produced for major country artists such as: Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris and Alison Krauss among countless others. He also played on records for Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels, Miranda Lambert and more.

A string of country artists took to Twitter to commemorate the legend, including Daniels and Cash’s daughter Rosanne. See below. RIP Randy Scruggs!
