Don’t expect Dire Straits to perform at the Rock Hall Ceremony

Fans hoping to see a Dire Straits reunion at the April 14 – Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony could be disappointed.

In a recent Q&A on his website, guitarists/keyboardist Guy Fletcher responded to a question about whether or not Dire Straits would perform at the Inductions in Cleveland.

Fletcher’s response:

“I don’t believe there will be any performance at the HoF in the DS segment. I will be there along with John Illsley. At this moment, I can’t speak for the others…for various and convoluted reasons.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Dire Straits disbanded 25 years and leader Mark Knopfler has been silent about the Inductions. No one seems to know if he’ll even show up.

The Cars, Bon Jovi and The Moody Blues are certain to perform, while fans can also expect tributes for Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Nina Simone.
