We already have been introduced Scotty to our audience in one of the past blog-posts on Dire Straits Blog, where we wrote about his guitar cover version of ‘Beryl’ by Mark Knopfler.

Namely, Scotty, today is an 18-year-old professional musician, composer, and songwriter specializing in 8 instruments of which include: electric and acoustic guitar, dobro, the pedal steel, piano/keyboards, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele.

Scotty has started playing guitar at the age of 10, and at the time when he uploaded this guitar solo video, he had only 13-years. He has been playing acoustic guitar since September of 2011, and electric guitar since March of 2012. In the video below, he tape looped the rhythm guitar part, (he only been using a loop for one week to the date of this video – October 21, 2013), and uses a bottleneck slide which he also learned to use in the proper techniques on his own in less than a week.

His knowledge in music theory now exceeds the professional level, and his ability to master so many different instruments in such little time serves as proof that he is indeed a rare, young prodigy. Scotty, (along with his older sister Nicole), write music far beyond their young years, creating sounds so rich with life experience that it is a wonder the pair are only 18 and 22.

He and Nicole focus on writing songs with substance, and as a team deliver countless, heartwarming and motivational stories through beautiful and well-crafted songs to their listeners and fans. Scotty has often been compared to several influential guitarists and musicians, some of which include John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Eric Clapton.

Until now, he has made a few electric and acoustic video covers of a couple of songs by Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler. Check the video below, and give us a comment if you like it, and do you want more videos from him. Enjoy!
