This is a new solo video version of the song by Dire Straits “Sultans of Swing,” in performance by the French musician Stephane Portelli.

Namely, Stephane Portelli is a French self-taught musician inspired by the rock and British blues from the 60s and 70s. He learned his guitar skills, listening to Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, and Eric Clapton.

Stephane has joined a blues-rock group called Agathe Mulot, as a solo guitarist. During the many café concerts and festivals of blues around France, he quickly feels that he need to write his music and lyrics. In 2001, he began a new adventure under his name. Since then, Stephane has been traveling the roads full of energy and sensuality has shared his music.

After more than 400 concerts throughout France and Quebec in Canada, he returns in Power Trio to present his fourth album called “Sur le Fil,” mixing with rock, blues, and pop. This album is on French but is very interesting because each song has its story. As he said:

“This album is certainly the most intimate. Lots of titles have been written in places where I found myself alone facing myself, with an uncertain future. Each song has its story, its universe. Even if the album wants to be electric, mixing pop, swing, and reggae, I naturally returned to my first musical influences, blues, and rock, to carry these lyrics, sometimes heavy.”

Stephane these days made his new solo video version of the song “Sultans of Swing,” he called this simply a “Jam à la Maison” / “Jam at home.” This 4-minutes video is a short improvisation by Stephane.

“This is a short improvisation in few minutes, by the footsteps of the great Mark Knopfler. I wish you as much pleasure to listen to it as the one I experienced playing it for you. Turn up the sound and take care of yourself,” he wrote.
