Yesterday, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially announced next year’s inductees. From the ballot of the fans, there are 5 artists in the Performer Category.
The list of artists and bands who will be announced into Hall of Fame in 2018 is led by Bon Jovi. Beside them, there is two more bands from the 80s, Dire Straits and The Cars, and the legends of progressive rock, Moody Blues. The list is rounded up by the legendary jazz and soul singer Nina Simone.
As a continuation of the night, the Award for Early Influence will be given posthumously to rock pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharpe, because of the special contributions of the singer to the development of rock music.
The 33rd Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, presented by Klipsch Audio, will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 in Cleveland. Ticket on-sale dates will be announced in January.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2018 Induction Ceremony will again have its television premiere on HBO, and a radio broadcast on SiriusXM. Broadcast details will be announced in early 2018.
Artists are eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single.
Bands often reunite with former members at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and this year’s class presents many occasions for such once-in-a-lifetime moments. Dire Straits hasn’t performed in any incarnation since their split in 1992, and front man Mark Knopfler has yet to indicate whether or not he’s open to the idea of a reunion performance.
