Justin Wells’ Musical Journey

Before starting his solo career, Justin Wells was the guitarist and vocalist of the Lexington, Kentucky-based country and rock band Fifth on the Floor.

He formed Fifth on the Floor in 2005 after moving to Lexington, Kentucky. However, Justin’s passion for music started much earlier. During his high school years, he began writing songs and performing, developing the skills that would later shape his career as a musician.

Over the years, Justin became known for combining elements of country, rock, and Americana music. His songwriting style focuses on personal stories and emotional performances.

On August 5, 2016, Justin Wells released his debut solo album Dawn in the Distance. The album was produced by Duane Lundy and featured contributions connected with artists such as Ringo Starr, Sturgill Simpson’s Sunday Valley, Joe Pug, and Vandaveer.

Among the songs on the album is “So Far Away,” originally written by Mark Knopfler and released by Dire Straits on the album Brothers in Arms in 1985.
