Today we have one very interesting story for all our fans and readers of Dire Straits Blog. For the first time on our blog, we are writing about The Reo Brothers – a band that originates from the Philippines.
Also, today we would like to share with you their phenomenal arrangement and performance of the song “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits.
The Reo Brothers is a Filipino rock band composed of five brothers who are from the province of Tacloban. They perform renditions of music from the early ’50s to the late ’70s and ’80s. Some of the performances that the band play at their events are the songs by The Beatles, Dire Straits, The Beach Boys, Bee Gees, America, The Ventures, and other prominent bands of the era.
The band grew in popularity after they performed at the ABS-CBN Christmas Special 2013 in the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The Reo Brothers band received the only standing ovation that night.
So far, the band had many performances including in the cities such as Los Angeles, London, and Birmingham, Liverpool, Belfast, Newcastle, etc.

Their video for the song “Sultans of Swing” on YouTube, released on January 19, 2021, reached millions of views worldwide. With over 1.7 million views, 54,000 likes, and 4,800 comments, we can put this video on the list of one of the best cover videos ever.
