Wes Leurs and His Mark On Us Return with Another Dire Straits Cover
Many Dire Straits Blog readers already know Wes Leurs, as he has previously shared several of his music projects and cover performances with our audience.
This time, Wes returns with another special performance. Together with his band, he created a cover version of “Down to The Waterline,” one of the most recognizable songs from Dire Straits’ debut album released in 1978.
The current lineup of “His Mark On Us” includes three musicians. Wes Leurs performs lead guitar and vocals, while Bo Zolner handles rhythm guitar, bass, and mixing. Daan Theoden completes the band on drums. In addition, Nils Meijs contributes by working on the video editing.
Creating Their Own Version of a Dire Straits Classic
The band follows a detailed process when creating each cover. First, they analyze and record the drum track. After that, they add the rhythm guitar and bass parts. Finally, they complete the arrangement with vocals and lead guitar.
Once all parts are recorded, the song goes through the mixing and mastering process. Their goal is to stay close to the original Dire Straits sound while adding their own musical approach and modern production techniques.
After being inactive for four years, “His Mark On Us” is now planning to release more videos and become more active on their YouTube channel. Fans can also discover their original music on platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon.
The band’s dedication shows how Dire Straits’ music continues to inspire new generations of musicians around the world.
