A new interview with Eric Clapton is featured in the documentary, “Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band” from Director Daniel Roher. The film also has interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Taj Mahal, Ronnie Hawkins, Van Morrison, and Martin Scorsese, who directed The Band’s all-star farewell concert, “The Last Waltz.”

Eric was one of the special guests at the historic event. Largely based on Robertson’s 2016 memoir, “Testimony,” the feature-length documentary blends rare archival footage, photography, iconic songs with interviews. It tells of Robertson’s upbringing on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario but the bulk focuses on the period from The Band’s formation as The Hawks, a backing band for rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins in the late 1950s, their mid-60s work backing Bob Dylan, their breakthrough with “Music from Big Pink,” in 1968, through the last live performance with all five original members on November 25, 1976.

“Once Were Brothers” premieres in theatres February 21, 2020. Watch the trailer for “Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band” plus a historic performance of Eric Clapton with The Band, below.
