We have previously published nine of Laszlo’s music videos from this series on our blog. This time, Laszlo presents his rendition of the classic 80s hit song “Take On Me” by the pop band A-ha, reimagined in the style of Dire Straits. The video, lasting nearly three minutes, showcases how the song would sound if it were written by Dire Straits.

According to Laszlo’s Words

Laszlo embarked on this project to see if he could replicate the iconic synthesizer riff on a guitar. After some experimentation, he managed to find a natural-sounding approach. Laszlo explains:

“I kept the song in the original key of B-minor but sang it a whole octave lower. Especially, the falsetto parts of the chorus would not be very much in the style of Dire Straits. So, I had it get creative with it. I decided to play the high note of ‘In a day or two’ on the guitar instead and build a solo off of it.”

Following the second chorus, Laszlo performs a lengthier solo over the chorus progression and concludes with a reprisal of the intro riff. Regarding the visual elements, Laszlo aimed to pay homage to the original “Take On Me” music video, which featured captivating hand-drawn artwork. He added:

“Visually I tried to put a bit in that was reminiscent of the original video clip from “Take On Me,” which has some beautifully sketched artwork. I attempted to recreate that a bit in the beginning and end. I sincerely hope you all enjoy it, and thank you for your continued support.”
