“I am very happy about this interview and I’m grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Dire Straits Blog, and to be able to show this little tribute to the legendary band that I like so much. Thanks so much”, said Paulo.

Tell us something more about yourself, who is Paulo Henrique? (Family, kids, job, where do you live now and how old are you).
Well, I’m 46 years old, I have a kid named Eric and I’m married with Elizandra. We have a lovely shih-tzu dog called Ravena. I live in Brazil in a little town called Cedral and I’m a bank employee. I love to play guitar in the spare time.

Are you a professional musician and do you have a music career?
Now I play the guitar as a hobby, but in a long time ago (about 20 years) I played as a professional musician when I was part of several bands. At this time, I played various kind of songs, but what I really like are the classics of rock.

When and why did you start playing?
When I was 13 years old, I met a cousin who played acoustic guitar and was fascinated by the instrument. So, I started to learn with a lot of enthusiasm and since then music has always been part of my life.

What kind of music do you like and who is your favorite music bands/artists?
As I said earlier, I really like classics of Rock like Dire Straits, of course and Eric Clapton, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Pink Floyd and many others. I also like Brazilian artists like Djavan, Gilberto Gil and some Brazilian rock bands. Now with the internet, I can follow several new artists, fantastic guitarists that influence me and inspire me.

About Dire Straits, when was the first time when you listened to song from them, which song was that and when was the first cover version that you made from Dire Straits?
I think it was in 1987 when a friend gave me a cassette with songs from the live Alchemy album. I thought the band’s performance was fantastic, and Mark’s technique was just incredible. I always dreamed one day I could play like him. My first cover was Sultans of Swing.

How many cover versions of Dire Straits songs have you made till now?
Well, I’ve been played various songs like Money for Nothing, Why Worry, Brothers in Arms, Walk of Life, Romeo and Juliet, but the only that I recorded in a video was Sultans of Swing.

Do you enjoy listening to music from Dire Straits?
I’m really a big fan of Dire Straits and I think I like pretty much every Dire Straits song. They are true works of art that care about every detail. So I enjoy it so much.

What plans do you have for the next year. Do you expect something more from you on musical level?
Yes of course, I’m always on the internet searching for new guitar techniques and new guitarists. Even if I do not play as a professional I can’t stop studying the instrument. I have a YouTube Channel with some of my performances and I intend to post new videos this year.

What is your motto in life and what is that which motivates you to continue with good vibes and positive energy in life?
I am a naturally optimistic person and always believe that things can become better. I like to learn about various subjects, not only about music, but general content such as technology, politics, history and I am dedicated to my family and my job. I think these are some things that move me.

And for the end can you tell something to all fans who read the Dire Straits Blog?
I am one of the millions of fans of Dire Straits and I always follow the publications of the blog and social media especially Facebook and hope that in this new year we can know new contents that will allow us to learn more about our favorite band, and also to know new stories about the Dire Straits fans around the world.
