Eraldo Agostinho is a Brazilian professional musician who has a band. He is from Rio de Janeiro from Brazil. On his channel on YouTube, he has two short videos where he plays guitar cover version from “Sultans of Swing” and “Wild West End”. Down below you will have a chance to see his guitar skills. 1. Tell us something about yourself, who is Eraldo Agostinho?

Eraldo Agostinho is a Brazilian, self-taught who learned to play guitar listening many records and seeing a lot of Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Free and Deep Purple shows.

2. How old are you, where do you live and where are you from?

I am Brazilian and I am 38 years old. Now I live in Brazil – Rio de Janeiro.

3. From what age did you start to play the guitar and what was the first song that you learned to play?

I started playing guitar at the age of 13. Like the Knopfler brothers, I and my brother Erasmo Agostinho began together. A song that made me play guitar was “Sultans of Swing”, and the first song that I learned to play was “I Used To Love Her” from Guns N ‘Roses.

4. Are you a professional musician and do you have a music career or band?

Yes, I am a professional musician and I have a band called TEOFANIA.

5. What kind of music do you like and who is your favorite music bands/artists?

My favorite bands and artist are Dire Straits, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, The Alan Parsons Project, Jethro Tull, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Chet Atkins, Stanley Jordan, Free, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Gary Moore, Bread, Petra, REZ Band, Whitecross, etc.

6. Which are your favorite songs from Dire Straits and maybe you have a favorite member from them?

That’s a hard question haha! I really enjoy the first album from Dire Straits from 1978/79. I like very much these songs: “Single Handed Sailor”, “Hand in Hand”, “Sultans of Swing”, “Lions”, “Skateaway”, “News”, “Planet of New Orleans”, “Your Latest Trick”, “Private Investigations”… Of members, I admire all, but honestly, Mark Knopfler is a genius of the 6 strings.

7. How many songs from Dire Straits do you know to play on guitar, what is your preference acoustic or electric guitar and who is your favorite brand for guitars?

Well, I can play on guitar all songs from Dire Straits and some of Mark’s soundtracks. The preference between acoustic and electric varies, so that depends also on what the music asks at the moment. From guitars brands, I like Gibson, Fender, Ovation and Martin Guitars.

8. How many guitars do you have?

I have two electric guitars Gibson Les Paul Standard (1997) and a Fender American Standard Stratocaster. From acoustic guitars: Martin, Gibson Chet Atkins (Nylon) and Dean Resonator.

9. What is your motto in life and what is that which motivates you to continue with good vibes and positive energy in life?

My motto is I got to fight for that on what I believe and never give up! Also, that which motivates me to have positive energy in my life is good news from the people.

10. Can you tell us something for the end to all fans who read the Dire Straits Blog?

First of all, I want to thank the Dire Straits Blog for the opportunity and I want also to tell fans of the blog to continue to listen to Dire Strait’s music and to follow the blog. This band is an inexhaustible source of much variety and ideas for musicians. We teach you to respect the various styles like Country, Rock, Blues, Jazz and etc. Thank you for all!
