Many songs that were performed by Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler evoke various emotions for many fans. The songs themselves bring excitement and their lyrics touch the listener’s heart. Dear fans, readers, and followers, this is part 4 of the “Stories and Comments from the Fans of Dire Straits” blog post serial.

In this post, you’ll read a few very interesting comments from our readers and fans of Dire Straits. All the comments are from our Facebook fan page – Dire Straits Blog, where our followers and readers shared their thoughts about some of the MK and Dire Straits songs.

The song “Sailing to Philadelphia” is the second song from the second solo studio album by Mark Knopfler. First time released by Mark Knopfler in 2000, this song has a special meaning for Tony Brigg (our follower and reader).

“Always loved this song. Keeps in mind three cousins (twice removed) who sailed to Philadelphia (actually New York) but two settled in Philly Pa in 1904,” he wrote.

Mark Talbot had also commented on the same song. He wrote: “Great song, the story behind it is awesome”.

Our dear friend from Porto, Portugal, as well as a musician and guitarist Pedro Amorim, wrote an interesting comment. He has written a comment about the song “Sultans of Swing” and also praised Mark Knopfler. “Mark Knopfler really sings with the guitar, and tells us stories with the voice,” he wrote.

“One of the greatest moments among the many times these two played together. And ‘Wonderful Tonight’ has a very personal meaning for me, just fabulous!”

This comment has written James Dawe for the song “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton performed with Dire Straits on 11th June 1988 for the 70th birthday of Nelson Mandela at the Wembley Stadium.
